Epidemiology of Clubfoot
Epidemiology: Incidence of pes equinovarus shows difference from one country to another. Generally speaking, the incidence can be presumed as 1 in 1000. Boys are effected 2-4 times than girls. Clubfoot deformity present bilaterally in 40-50 % of cases.
Is there a familial inheritance pattern in talipes equinovarus?
Studies by Wynne – Davies report higher risc in the indivuals with positive family history. The Studies support some type of inheritance pattern. Other intersting and important study by Honein et al found out that the childern whose mom were smoking were at higher risc for clubfoot.
